US Lacrosse Coaching Certification Required by the End of 2010:
In 2008, the Board of Directors of the VT Chapter US Lacrosse voted on and passed the decision that all coaches, acting as "Head" coaches of a Rec. or League middle school program or team, within the Northern Vt Boys and Girls Youth Lacrosse Leagues need to become US Lacrosse Level I certified by the end of the year 2010.
The reason for the discussion and the decision of this coaching requirement was based on the safety of our youth players. And, as well, this coaching requirement allows all coaches the opportunity to continue to learn about boys or girls lacrosse with the most up-to-date rules, positive coaching approach, fun skill techniques, drills and lacrosse pointers which allow all players to progress with sport of lacrosse.
The process of becoming certified is three-fold: An online mini course and test, a physical Coaching Clinic and a Positive Coaching clinic.
If you are a brand new middle school, head lacrosse coach, you have a waiver of one year.
